Tokeland and Violence

Picked up a Tokeland newspaper today. After returning home, commenced skimming through the small weekly paper. In the 'police' section, there was an article about a local surfer being arrested on assault charges. Seems that said 'local' was spewing obscenities at 'victim'(?). Then paddled over to 'victim' and grabbed his feet, flipped him off of his board and attempted to hold him underwater, while shouting that he ('local' was going to kill him ('victim'. 'Victim' got away. Paddled to the beach. Returned with Police who arrested 'local'. 'Victim' said he would not return to Tokeland ever again, except to testify against 'local' in court. According to the article, his occured Thursday, October 30th.

Interesting...................stuff.

A new chapter in PNW surfing? A sign of the times? The water was noticeably empty of 'victims' , considering that it was head high, fairly mild and offshore...........and a sunday?

This is the first I'd heard of this incident.......but then again.......I only stoop low enough to go to Tokeland when I'm short on time or desperate for surf (it long ago lost its lustre......within a few years after the first bathroom washed away). I know numerous locals..........but the article did not give any names. I'm pretty sure that you could probably narrow it down to 2 or 3.

PNWK? your thoughts...........since you hang with the 2 or 3 that I'm thinking of.

I had heard last week but not witnessed that Thomas was showing a cop from kirkland how to adjust his fins in the lineup being the offspring of 2 LAPD parents you probably can guess how that went

considering the the timing of this report could be the said incident or possibly a new one couldnt tell since i didnt bother going out there and unfortunately didnt get caught up on the latest news

Tokeland is in perfect synch w/the aloha spirit. You wrap up the outside in a nice little feel good package but underneath it all in reality, it's an ugly pile of week old dogshit.

The boy needs a hobby. 'killing people' is so passé. What he needs to do is pull from multiple data sources with c# and .net technology and get the 24 hour surf report in to one page;

pnwk's ppl are vets. They are teetering on their second strike and are generally cordial in the lineup these days. This is the work of one of the young punks.

hmmmm.......I forgot that the article had said the 'victim' was from Orting.......I think. I don't have the paper here at the moment. Left it at my bros' house.........thought he would get some enjoyment out of it.

I know.......when i first read the article.......i thought Surfgeo's wife had finally gotten smart and booted him out of Texas. Then he had taken up residence in the fabled wasteland of Tokeland.

I have to disagree..........the punks will back down, and are rarely more than barking little weener dogs. The one at the top of my list has a long history of such behavior. My theory is that he's been mellow all summer because of his daughter staying with him. Now that summer is over............the cork finally popped loose.

There was definitely some tension in the Corner that day I took the last set of pics but no action. I always miss the good stuff.
