Does anyone have any information about surf spots near Acapulco, Mexico. Outside or inside the bay? Or anyplace online I could gather information from?

Also, any top notch gentlemen's clubs you might recommend? LOL! j/k

Thanks for the help!

The best place near town would be to the south of the bay and that is at the Princess. There it is a beachbreak and is surf is best formed during dawn patrols. In the afternoon the surf can be blown out. You can longboard or shortboard here. Board rental is available. It can get big and heavy at this spot.

The second place is about a mile up the beach right at the rocky outcrop from the hotel towards town. It can behave like a rivermouth break under certain conditions. That place can be a little dangerous in terms of crime, so just don't leave your stuff on the beach or go off drinking with the locals. Just use common sense and speak Spanish and you won't have any problems. Last I was out there an American tourist washed up on the beach dead, so it was interesting to compare lifeguarding procrdures and coordination with the police with our own.

North of town, there's a beautiful place for sunsets and such but heavy, heavy beachbreaks. The place I am referring to is Pied de la Terre. The bus out there from town costs 35 cents and take it all the way to the end of the line. The scenery and mountains are impressive. Some people told me that banditos regularly hold the bus up and rob tourists, but I have taken my family there several times, never a problem. There is an army base to north of there and we were stopped by armed guards because we had accidently tresspassed onto the base. We had seen a school of manta rays jumping out of the water and lots of dolphins. Enjoy the mariscos and have a few Pacifico for me at one of the little restaurants up there for me.

Theoretically you could shortboard up there, but the wave is so heavy that I thought my back was going to break when I bodyboarded there. So if you longboard or shortboard, stick to south of town.

In the bay, there's really nada to do except watch the beautiful girls and avoid the sewerage. And spend lots of money because it can be expensive.

'Gentlemans' clubs'?? OK there are a few towers at the south end of the bay and you will find whatever you want there. I have a very pregnant wife and I am not 'allowed' to think of such things!

Acapulco's population has grown substantially in the last 10 years, so the city suffers from the rural to urban poverty so common in Mexico. A while ago it was paradise and my mom and dad spent their honeymoon there. Today it is crowded, polluted, dirty and dangerous.

So I would opt for spots surrounding the city, but not to remain in it. Craig
