I was driving back from buying painting supplies and noticed it looked a swell was starting starting to hit the south shore. So much for painting. I figured an after lunch session would be wrecked by the tide getting too high. It turns out I was rignt.

The first hour was unreal. It was peaking up head high+ into clean barrels that peeled at the perfect speed for body surfing, dropping into the tube and through it. The water was clear, glassy and warm with moderate offshore winds. There were a bunch of body boarders and surfers towards the center of the bay where they would get a faster wave so that left me, one surfer and some tourists at the peak that was best for body surfing. For some reason none of the usual crew showed up. Work, I guess, although that doesn't usually stop most of them. I was getting as many waves as I could ride without getting exhausted and without taking them away from anyone else at one of the most crowded spots on the island. Go figure.

After about an hour I started looking for waves but they just weren't coming. I rode a few bumpy waves. A set finally came in with a few head high + waves so I went. The backwash drove back into the incoming wave and launched me ahead of the face a couple of feet into the air. No harm done, but I won no style points. It wasn't my best air. The high tide was destroying the waves. Naturally, I hung on a little longer, but it didn't improve. It was an excellent session but I wish I started a little earlier.

Aloha George,

Two questions..............where do you buy your paint supplies?

Which most crowded spot on the island are you talking about.....you *can* tell.........*its* the most crowded and not secret..............i.e. where was your report coming from?

One very pissed and edgy rat in regards to duplicity and deceit........and the hatred for the smell of sour grapes and citrus detritus.

Do you know John Fink? He used to bodysurf that spot quite often.

I have tons of pictures of the place. Love the right that comes off in front of the reef.
