here's something i didn't know before:

jersey is second to california in deaths from unprovoked great white shark attacks in the US.

also shows most attacks are in the middle of the day, not at dusk which many people believe is feeding time.

are australia's whites pissed or what? U.S. has over twice the amount of attacks and less than half the fatalities. of all shark attacks in australia, almost half are fatalities. what gives?

lp - always interested in knowing what whities doin

Great whites are obviously particular about what they eat.

i think you guys better stop covering yourselves with BBQ sauce before going out.

(reminds me of a friend of mine that wouldn't pet the dog before surfing. thought it would attract the sharks.)

For what it is worth. The file is based upon reported attacks. Interestingly, the number of attacks 'known' by surfers in Oregon is far greater than the number in the ISAFs. I mentioned this to someone at the the agency. The said someone should report the attacks to them. My point is that there might be more, not less, attacks than recorded. Imagine happenings in third world nations or merely swimmers that disappear mysteriously.

Is anyone getting the idea that maybe there is a screw missing here, a blindspot that exists, or maybe advanced arterial sclerosis affecting the blood supply to the brain??

'Far greater' ? I'm picturing all these bloody, chewed up people from Oregon dragging themselves home, not going to the hospital and not reporting anything to anyone. People that disappear without a trace.... I guess that would automatically mean shark attack?

Why do I get the feeling you're on a first name basis with the boys at the 'agency'? lol
