Schnookie,

Thanks for the referral to alt.surfing.bodyboard. This was not a troll. The use of a thousand years ago was a simple use of hyperbole to indirectly suggest that my memories of Santa Cruz are from another era of my life; e.g., before college, before career, before marriage, before kids. I'm curious as to why my reference to Puerto Nuevo lobster with respect to visiting San Diego made you think this was a troll. Very interesting word association response. Again, thank you for the reference to alt.surfing.bodyboard. I'll post my question there.

That Schnookie is a schnook. Hyperbole would be like a 'mile high wave'. Trolls are dwarves living beneath bridges. I apologize for Schnook's ignorance, but we think he/she is a couple of inches short of a first down.

Sorry... but when you choose to live in California Surf Central population centers those names and everything about them are going to be plastered all over the place. Go far north or elsewhere if you want to escape surf's mass media.

Hell, there aren't any undiscovered spots left in Costa Rica! <smiley)

Umm, no. There are no beginner beaches in Santa Cruz. Lots of reefs and points. Cowell's comes to mind, otherwise beginner's head north to L*nda M*r.

I'll get some pictures up tomorrow of how our breaks are rated by the local crew along with some of the rules.

Guess, I'm a slow reader...too much time spent on kids, work, surf and school. Probably should have just let the thread die, now everyone's going to read it!

I'm surfing tomorrow, anyone else?

Sorry for replying to 2 post at once, hopefully Gleshna can follow.

It never ceases to amaze me that some surfers (a lifestyle recognized for it's global opportunities and comraderie) live in such a small paranoid world.

I'm not trying to get anyone drunk with the hope that they'll slip up and spill the beans on some secret spot that is still uncrowded, easy to get to, and puts out perfect waves; I'm just asking where some good beginner beaches are in the area.

I know where I used to surf and these aren't the places for a beginner who just wants to play in the water on a boogie board without snapping his neck!

To those who helped, thank you.

I basically learned to surf at reefs/point breaks. There are not very many 'beginner beach breaks' in Puerto Rico. More urchins back then before pollution and the crowds stepping on all of them.

MR. B A N K W R I G H T

Bank Wright is a devilish documentarian, author, and publisher. Truly one of the last of the great ones, A LEGEND'S LEGEND. SMITTY YO! We don't know your 10 20, so it be difficult to know for what you are looking. Hop in your ride and do a boogie safari with no holds barred. Spots are out there. Don't rely on these bozos for accurate information. alt.surfing is for computer nerds only (and you nerds know who you are).
