Do any SC locals know what the rental situation is like in the Capitola/Aptos area? I am applying for a job at the Sentinel and know that rents aren't cheap compared to the white trash area known as Lake County, but I want to surf so I'll do what I can to scrape by if I get a call back about the job. Motto: Will work for surf! Anyway, my curiosity is peaked and I checked the Sentinel classifieds and found some decent places, but I know the locals always have the scoop, or at least could direct me to a rental agency or something. Hull? Moodycop? G?

Well, guess your curiosity can only go downhill then.

Sorry couldn't resist

OTOH, the college kids will live in a trashed-out place without much complaint and their parents will happily pay sky-high rent... a slumlord's dream

On the other hand, in the SC area, they will rent beach houses for the nine months of 'off season' where the homeowners can make some money on summer rentals.

I was MUCH harder on rental houses just out of college than I ever was in college. Had to call the cops on our own party a couple times in Newport, sort of getting out of hand. Dennis Rodman didn't have much on us.

I witnessed that town first hand. What a riot! One of my best friends lived right up the street from Woodstock Pizza. I spent some time hanging out there in 91'. I just couldnt believe that place. I remember walking to go check the waves and hang on that big tree over the cliff at campus point, and on the way hearing like 5 different bands jamming in different apartments, etc. I also remember seeing two bums beat each other up in the park by Woodstocks. My friend's apartment was like party central.

I happened to score perfect and surprisingly uncrowded Rincon that trip. Sheet of glass, peeling from the top to the highway <big sigh>
