Ben, nice report as usual, Thought you served your time and were discharged? Not speculating on your political situation but I hope it is soon.

Best of luck, Andy

5 years since mine, and glad it's over

I'll be discharged on March 1st. Until then i'm on leave - we get a 2 weeks to 1 month vacation at the end of the service, before theh actual discharge.

Ben, one month vacation with pay! Man that's a sweet deal. We could choose to cash in left over leave along with assorted food/bunk fees and opt for an early out. I left the base that day with almost 2k (insert smile here)!

Enjoy your leave,

You say 'one month vacation with pay!' as if it's a big deal. The fact is , the army in Israel is like slave labor. Soldiers that serve in combat units get 600NIS (=180$) per month for the 3 years they are in. I was not in a combat unit so I got 300NIS(=90$). I wouldn't mind serving the mandatory 3 years if we got decent pay, but we get peanuts.

Damn, my bad Ben. I thought they would at least pay you a decent wage. I guess that is the difference between a conscription and volunteer army. Good that it's over...
