I'm quite sure David Blake must have many big wave pics. That's his forte'.

Not quite 20 feet, but as large as Ocean Beach is ridden. FWIW, my buddy the photographer took the photo, and I've only talked him into taking pics once (and he didn't even find me in the lineup). If only the waves got really large here like they do in Joisey.

For other shots, see

One day at Mavericks http://www.mavsurfer.com/mavsurfer_00/editorial/ image_photo/ mavericks_12_22_00/index.htm

and

A whole season of big waves in the North Pacific.

I know, it gets sooo mackin' here.

(actually, you'd be surprised how big of a wave I *have* surfed here on the east coast)

Cool. Any of you?

Now, honestly tell me you'd surf that day at Mavs. C'mon. Be honest.

FWIW - Just because I live in NJ doesnt mean I cant handle some pretty 'big'(relative) stuff. I've been chasing Atlantic hurricanes for 18yrs now. I have surfed waves between15-20ft on the face many times and felt quite comfortable and confident doing so. Too bad the Atlantic has been very bad to us over the past half a decade in the way of larger surf.

Yes, I admit not surfing anything bigger than that. But it is on my list of things to conquer.

I'm very confident in my surfing skills.

I'm *not* confident ATM with my lung capacity for big long hold-downs in 20+footers! I'll need some physical training for that.

Step back from the crack pipe, Mark, it is beginning to rot your brain. Do you even own a big wave board ?

<bite hook hard>

Bro, wussup? Are you the 'Master' ?

I have an entire thumbnail page of shots of me tearing it up, albeit not in anything large at all I admit, BUT, I've yet to see a single shot of you shredding. ...or even standing up on a wave.

Or you are just seeing what it takes to <ahem> reel me in? <GGGGG>

So you think that after 18 years of surfing 1-2x0 top to bottom tubes in a 5mm with 34F water and 17F air in the dead of winter that I cant handle myself ok in decent swell? I start getting comfy when it hits 15ft faces.

If I get out there again soon, I will call on you for a friendly handshake, followed by an intense surf session. All in the name of pure enjoyment. ...and testing our limits. <G> If you're such an intense, experienced big wave charger, you can then show me some ropes if I visit.

Sorry, I'm gonna have to back out of a big Mavs session. If you can surf that shit, you have my ultimate props. I have a beautiful child I want to see grow up and rip me out of the water. I can already prove how *good* I surf. To prove how *big* isnt my goal. That's pure personal 'testing'. But I like it as big as I can handle. That's when it's fun.

<spit gnarly rusty hook out>

PS - I have a 6'10' and *had* a 7'2' (broke). Havent needed the 7'2' yet since then. I can surf the 6'10' I have in as big as I've surfed yet. I plan on getting a board shaped over 7' in the next 6-8mnths.

That is what I thought.

If you haven't needed more than a 6'10' in a while, you haven't surfed big surf.

You also troll easily. Just come on out in November or December. The air and water are 12-14C, and the waves come in all sizes - East Coast size, medium, large, and EXTRA large.

I'm in the book.

Just bring it.

Seven weeks till our surf season begins, 11 until October (which only comes once a year), and 16 weeks till big wave season starts.

AS' very own big wave chairman of the board perpetuated:

<LOL>

See. You're still a wiseass.

When I come out there, I will pimpsmack you. <G>

Then we will go out and have a friendly surf together.

d

BTW, What about *YOU* though ?????

Are you AS' own smartass version of Peter Mel?

Are you regularly in 20ft+ surf, and anything below 15ft on the face is just a waste of time for you?

..because that is the way you project yourself in this group with the most condescending posts over any ASer I've ever seen especially in this subject,

...but yet never back anything up, 'cept with words.

Most people in this group would shit themselves in even 15ft faces. I'm happy to admit I can surf bigger than that comfortably. That's all I need to feel good about my own self satisfaction.. But *I* can have fun in *any* size, I just *surf*.

.....which is what makes everything you ever say completely moot - thus I'm not 'caught'.

You're just fun to bite back with, you play well.

You're trying very hard to make me look like a small wave surfer, yet you havent once given us a single clue as to whether or not *you* charge the 'BIG' stuff.

<yawn> ...still waiting.

You dont understand, I wasnt EVER *comparing* the East Coast to ANYthing on the west coast. I wasnt comparing at all. Not my intentions. OBVIOUSLY I know it gets much more mosterous there! Duh, I've been surfing alover North America, Centro and the Carribean for just about 20 years. I think I have a decent perception by now of wave sizes and conditions in other places.

All I've been trying to say through this whole thing is that I can surf decent size swell very comfortably (and that some of it has been in my travels, *not* on the EC.) and that I plan on surfing bigger than I have eventually. I'm *not* comparing myself to David, OR trying to compete with him. (he *is* trying to compete with me though) If he's that much of a big wave afficianado, than I would sincerely love for him to help me into larger stuff than I'm used to if I can ever visit his turf. I mean that. I'm not mad or bitter at him.

But, I'm also trying to call David out on being someone who talks ALOT and condescends, but doesnt really ever back anything up.

That's all. I'm also not saying he *cant* but that I would just like to see it. I dont want to argue with him, but I also dont need to be belittled as some small wave chump, which he's doing. That's where he's trolling.

100% fully aware of that, as with ANY big swell anywhere.

< - in little kid's voice> ..well he started it! d

Actually, I dont think it's trolling anymore at this point. .... <G>
