O'ahu, south shore 6:30-8:30 am wind - almost none! set waves - waist to chest high

I woke early and halfway thought of going down to Lighthouse so I could drop in on Neal's nemesis ... lol ... Naw, I'd only embarass Neal and get toppled myself. I figured DH was crowded anyway since most of Waikiki was blocked off for triathalon stuff. Sorry, Neal - ya hafta come down to my stomping grounds sometime

I made a good call - the waves at my home break were just sumptuous: peaking sharply, long peels, just my size. There were only four of us out there for the longest time. I had the far right end of the lineup to myself - got some delicious high rides, just sweeping over some of the almost exposed reef. Later on, I sat inside to get some pics of the daredevils that charge right to the edge of the jutting reef (should have also gotten a pic of the one who had a foot-long reef bite on his back!).

Think I might head back out at sunset.

Sus ... gotta love the extra Hawaiian holidays ...

Sus, as I drove past your spot at 5:30 AM, I seriously considered going out there. However, it just wasn't showing when I passed by, so I went to my standard Diamond Head.

Surf was about shoulder-high, with a few fun ones. Nothing exceptional, but it wasn't so bad. My nemesis didn't show. Could not park on one side of the road.

How funny. I don't blame you - you are still catching up on surf time and should default to what you can depend on.

I was thinking about that myself actually - how sometimes I just don't want to go to a different break even though it could be better. I think that there are times I just need a 'comfort surf'
