The betty is starting to come down with a cold and decided to stick around the house and keep my bro's wife company while we boys tracked down to the rivermouth at Navarro and paddled out into some suicidal bombs. The surf was pretty thick and some spots along the shallow sand were tossing out funky tube sections while most of the time the waves would just close out. We both rode smaller boards and then pushed each other into some well double overhead nasty looking waves. I spent more time on the bottom of the ocean than on the waves themselves but we could not help but laugh at the fun we were having. He and I drove south to the right point break an hour after the dump session and were on a full mission when we stopped at this vista point and saw what the surf was like at this beach break. We spent a long time checking the waves before deciding on paddling out and then headed south to this little valley and took a broken down old road to a break between two small hills. The beach break here was a mess and so we loaded up and hiked back up to where the beach ends. The faces were 15 to 20 feet and the 10-4 was ready to rock n' roll! With no channel my bro and I spent a good hour and some change ducking under mountains of snow before breaking through to the other side. The peak was on the verge of closing out in big sections but there were some good spots to take off from down from the peak that provided long workable walls. I had some songs from Moby's Play CD stuck in my head and so it was all about taking off on every bump I could find and then zoning out from the world around me as I carved these beautiful walls of water. I think I am going to have to buy that CD now! From the waves I was able to see my boy ride, he was handling the size with a big smile on his face. Pretty soon we both were going for broke and pushing our turns harder than we had on previous waves. We even took off on our last wave together and carved back and forth while passing each other up, laughing the entire way back toward the beach. The wipeouts were few and far between but we both had our fair share of beatings and recapped those on the hike back to his truck. I cannot believe how nice the weather has been down here. Thank you Northern California! The betty and I making the drive home tomorrow morning and I am hoping to catch some surf around Crescent City to cap off a good few days of surfing south of the border.

Or is it im jealous of your savvy retro bigwave rider image? becouse look at me ankle wave chaser. http://www.users.qwest.net/~redover/surf-12-26-00.html Bud does not toot his horn or anyone else that rides bigwaves.
