After selling all of my manual focus equipment on EBay it was time to get Canon's EOS 1D digital SLR. It has basically the same body of my EOS 1V film camera with most of the dials and knobs in the same place so the learning curve was small. This camera has all the performance features of my film camera. I went down to the beach to try it out and I was pleased with the results. No more holding back on the trigger anymore to save $. I will be able to fire away and get complete sequence shots. Good bye film. Sample shot taken on a crappy day at the beach:

Nice. Still has the tack-sharp crystallization of the spray that you have produced in the past. I didn't know digital could be that quick.

Let's have a moment of silence....................
Juz kiddin, nice pic there. I'm curious about two things. Do you find that depth of field is not the same? Also, does the camera have a gamma setting you can play with?

Does it take all the lenses the normal 35mm canon cams do ? What lenses do you have

Excellent G! I like my D100 for all it's limitations. If Nikon doesn't announce a hi-rez model analogue to the EOS-1Ds at the big show in February, I'll probably go ahead and get their 1D competitor, the D2h.
I like medium format film for certain stuff but I see no reason to shoot 35mm film anymore.

Yes you can change the lens. It takes all the lenses that I use on my EOS 1V. I have the following: Canon 300 2.8 L USM telephoto Canon 1.4 converter Canon 2x converter Canon 70-200 2.8 L ISM zoom Canon 28-70 2.8 L zoom

G, I'm betting you'll have more than one 1GB card before long. I use 2 1GB microdrives which hold 107 NEF's(Nikon's RAW) each. I also carry a Nixvue Vista (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nixvuevista/) if I think it's going to be a good day. It works really well, shoot one card while downloading the other. The only thing I don't like about the Vista is the battery life SUX. There are probably much better models out now.
I should have gotten the camera out today to capture Diablo and Shaft when I saw them so that I could do a little Photoshop majik and pass it around the newsgroup. The only reason I didn't was because I thought Diablo might start throwing rocks at me again...
