Surf report: Tues, August 8...5:30 AM...

Met Neal in the WindanSea parking lot.

He and Tom Tweed were already suiting-up for an early go out.

Neal SHREDDED on a board he borrowed from TT. In less than 30 minutes, Neal caught 4 waves, tube-rode all four (after ripping insane, back-side, bottom turns), and was the second best surfer in the water.

Of course, I was the best surfer out there, but Neal was a very close second...in my opinion, anyway.

Tweed is probably a much better judge of surfing talent than I.

Other stuff:

1. I thought the waves were an easy 20-30 feet, but Neal said they were 3-4 feet, Hawaiian...I'm glad I've never met a 10 footer, Hawaiian scale.

2. Neal called Scot..the WindanSea Enforcer..., 'Scotty'!!!

....wow...the last time I called Scot, 'Scotty' I ended-up in the emergency room at Scripps Hospital with a broken nose!

3. All localism at WindanSea came to a halt while Neal was in the water...not an angry voice was raised, and calm prevailed...such a Karmantic Konvergence fueled by 7-11 coffee and Neal's 'Hawaiian Host Macadamia Nuts.'

4. Hey, we're gonna do this all over again tomorrow morning, so I am extending a warm WindanSea Aloha Welcome to any of you within driving distance of WindanSea.

5. TT has a yellow Ford van, I have a silver Ford truck, Buzzy has a black Expedition, Denny has a white Ford van, and Scotty, errr, Scot is the big guy with the blue Rusty surfboard.

Just look for us in the WindanSea Lot, Neal will be there, and we can all surf together with the love, peace and joy that only an early morning La Jolla Reef Break Session can provide.

Surf well, my brothers and sisters, God loves all who surf, and please join us for an early morning prayer, led by Reverend TT, and WindanSea's traditional hand-holding-surf-chant boogie-board-praising-fellowship-session, led by Scot, before the 5:45 AM paddle-out!

I assume you missed a '2' above when typing the date. Surfed a bit north of you guys at a new secret spot (well it's new to me but I guess it's not much of a secret to anybody from north county). Low wave count but tons of fun on a couple of super nice, long lefts. Shoulder, maybe head high. Some slightly overhead stuff comin' in while I watched from the bluff. How long is Neal gonna be in town? I'd like to surf with the Bronzed Hawaiian God ;^> but can't make it to Windansea tomorrow; time is short so I gotta hit a spot between home (north county) and work (Torrey Pines). Have fun.

Aloha BA,

If your're seeing 30' and Neal is seeing 3'.....................perhaps *you* should take the pill that makes you larger and give Neal the one that makes you small.........I wish I was there........truly.

Ride Well, you guys Denny

Oh, whahhhh.....It amazes me when people get upset at such a little thing as that. I sometimes get called Stevie (or worse) and it doesn't phase me a bit. Tell ya what, Neal. Next time you see him, why don't ya say something like, 'Hey, Scotty, why don't you grow a freakin' spine!' Now *that* should be interesting to watch the reaction to! <insert broken-nose smiley face here>

Later, Steve

P.S....Sounds like you all had a fun time......Surf on!

If the best surfer really is the one having the most fun, than your call is absolutely correct. Both of you were having more fun than me.

Rev. Tom

ps- try to get your meds adjusted before tomorrow

Hey Denny,

I tried those (pills) a long time ago during a session at Black's with Mike Croteau, Roger Adams, Denny Tompkins, and Roger Yates.

I chased the White Rabbit but ended up somewhere inside of Alice's Restaurant, looking-up at a Mad Hatter!

Posted a couple of photos:

of the May south swell that hit WindanSea.
