surfing accidents

Happened to find a rather interesting discussion on health insurance for surfers at Coconut Girl Wireless.

I know that most surfers are not insured. It is even a little hard to think about it in a sport that is for the young and the healthy but surfing accidents do happen.

I personally know someone that had a relatively small surfing accident but still had to spend - with the help of his friends- a lot of money on the hospital and couldn’t work for a week.

This is rather a serious question and I think that being prepared for the worst case scenario can certainly free us to enjoy the best that the sea has to offer without having to reach rock bottom in case something goes wrong.

Wow…that’s a lot of death by gardening!

I thought so too but couldn’t find a reasonable explanation.

I’ve surfed for 15 years and not had much more than a few bruises, fin cuts and sore throats, until I broke my nose that is! Here in the UK we’re fortunate to have the National Heath Service, who fixed me up a treat. I didn’t work for two weeks, bonus in my opinion… ;-)
Thanks for visiting my blog and I’m all subscribed to yours now! Hey and surfing in Ireland - there are more than a few places, it’s absolutely classic over there.

Love to learn more if you have a post on surfing shores there.
The health insurance in the states is so limited that if you have an accident you’re on your own. the regular insurance won’t cover the treatment. There are many advantages in your system maybe apart from having to wait forever to see a GP
