Today was a beautiful day. The waves were GREAT, the sun was shining, the crowds were mellow and I had a great time. At first I wasn't going to go to the beach because the net data showed that the waves were knee high. Then, around 11:00 am I got a call from a friend who told me the waves were waist to chest high and perfect, so I decided to try my luck and go surfing.

Place : Between Zvulun and Hasharon beach, Herzelia Time : 12:20 - 14:40. Size : Chest high Crowds : 20 surfers spread out along the beach. There were at least 4 peaks working, so the crowds weren't felt. Water temp : 18 C. I don't think the water will get any colder this year. Conditions : For the first 40 min of the session the sky was overcast and the wind was a side shore wind that made the waves a little choppy. But then, the wind died down, the sun came out and the waves turned into glassy perfection. The waves were breaking both left and right on at least 4 peaks and they had a hollowness to them that often let the surfer get a cover up. I was riding a 9' classic shaped nose rider, so I was more into riding the nose than hitting the lip and doing the more progressive maneuvers.

Wave of the day : The wave of the day goes to a local shredder named Dani who I saw catch a perfect. I was paddling back out to the lineup and I looked to my right just in time to see him going down the line and ducking into a perfectly round tube. He shot out of the barrel right when I was paddling over the wave - that was definitely a hoot inspiring view.

Fun Factor : 8.5 out of 10.

Best of waves,
