Happened in Avon. A 22 y.o. man and his wife were in 5' of water cuddled together when the shark struck, severing the womans leg and killing the man. Took an hour and a half to get to woman to hospital. She's listed as stable as of this posting. 6:00 p.m. Same time as when the boy was struck off of Sandbridge VA two days ago. Sad.

Would you appreciate it if I began posting all the car accident reports to alt.surfing ? How about all the heart attack reports ? Boating related deaths ? Wives beating their husbands ? Dog maulings ? Crack busts ?

Shark attacks are sensationalized by the press. The same old thing happens every year, this year with more press than most. Remember that - the press has increased - not the shark attacks. It will all be over in another month, when the sharks leave the shorelines. Until then, restrain yourself from posting about every shark attack that has nothing to do with surfing.

I suppose if two deaths occurred from shark attacks off of NorCal within a short period of time there would be no news about it and no posts to alt.surfing.

But, we are just dum dums and, what the heck, we can't control our minds and not think about sharks gobbling people off of our coastline.
