BTW, any of you ever been on the water during a quake? I was on the bay in Newport for a good shaker in about '79 or '80 the year is fuzzy. Amazing sight to see. It was early morning glass, suddenly I noticed what I thought were boat wakes all around, but they were these peaky spike type waves, some about 1 ft high all over the bay, then gradually subsided.

The Sylmar quake threw me off the top bunk in my dorm room all the way down in Irvine.

The Loma Prieta didn't feel like that big a deal at the time, it was only when we started getting the news of the damage that it became more impressive.
