One of the advantages of learning (or relearning) surfing is that almost every time you go out, you can get the best ride of your life. I had one 'Whoa! That was the best ride of my life' on Friday (Houda Point in Westhaven) and two on Sunday (South Beach in Crescent City). Nice, organized swells and warm air + dolphins close by. Great sessions!

Notes for other aging has-beens who are starting again or thinking about it:

After 5-6 sessions you'll get twice as many rides with half of the energy expenditure, so don't give up too soon.

The boards are much better and easier-turning than they were in the 60's.
