here are some more pictures from Costa Rica...

Dominical :

Surfing beachbreaks is all about sitting on the shoulder and waiting for the right wave...

2 picture sequence...

This is me. I remember this wave. I stalled (where I am in the picture) and then sped down the line and got totaly barreled...

Tamarindo :

Tamarindo Rivermouth - small but fun...
http://surf-israel.terrashare.com/costa/tamarindo3.jpg

The Tamarindo beach break also had nice barrels, but the strong offshore wind made it hard to catch...

Enjoy!

Bro, you are getting me pumped! I am leaving for 12 days of surf in and around Tamarindo and Manual Antonio on May 17 and I'll definitely give Dominacal a shot so long as it isn't too big and closing...I'll give a full report with pics upon my return. If you have any tips email me!

Don't plan on spending any surf time at Manuel Antonia/Quepos. I didn't see them over waist high and I drove past them 4 times. 40km south of Quepos you have Dominical - even if it's big and closing out, drive 4 km south and hit the point. I caught it perfect at overhead and a half when the beach break was double overhead. The point is a easy wave. The locals at Dominical call it the confidence builder (after getting your ass kicked at the beach break, you'll enjoy the point). From Dominical you can also make the easy 3 hour drive south to... Pavones... Need i say more.

Best of waves,

What about Boca Damas rivermouth? Staying Manuel for 3 nights on the back end for my wife...apparently it can be similiar to Trestles (so I hear) when a big enough swell is running throught there and hopefully we'll be getting some good South's rolling through.

south of Quepos you have Dominical - >even if it's big and closing out, drive 4 km south and hit the point.

How long is the drive in Tico time?

Pavones... Need i say more.

I would love too, but I don't think I'll make this on my trip...I'll be doing Witches Rock and Ollie's Point though!

As I said, I never saw it any bigger than waist high. If you do get some good sized south's, try to plan your drive south (or north) from Tamarindo so that you stop and Boca Barranca - if not Pavones, at least that...

It's 40km on a dirt road. If you have a jeep you can do it in 30min. I did it in an hour and a half so as not to damage the car (and I got a flat tire anyway). The point is 4 km south of Dominical and it's paved all the way. It's a 5 min. drive.

I missed both witches rock and Ollies, but EVERYBODY says that they are among the best waves in Costa Rica... Take alot of photos!!!
