In a stunning upset, Donna Frye was elected to the San Diego City Council on Tuesday night, June 5.

With strong support from the environmental and surfing communities, and labor, Clean Water Activist Frye won with fifty-two percent of the vote. Donna beat the Republican candidate, Steve Danon, who was supported by the building industry and real estate developers, and had a budget which exceeded Donna's by more than $100,000.00.

Donna will now represent San Diego's District 6, which she grew up in, resides, and, along with her husband, legendary surfer and surfboard maker Skip Frye, runs the small surf shop Skip Frye Surfboards.

Needless to say, we in San Diego are stoked!

That is great news for surfing and the environment. Wouldn't be interesting to have a surfer as president some day?
