OK, so I don’t write too much.

After visiting with the boys at the Harbor entrance Friday night, I received a call from my friend Steve from Santa Cruz. He said Pleasure Point was 8-10 in front of O’Neill’s house on Thursday and we had better get up there. We drove up at 5 AM Saturday morning and the point was still brewing and pushing water down the beach. It looked surfable, but Steve said Moss would be better, so we hauled ass down.

We ended up surfing just North of the jetty where it was 5-6’ and peeling. Some nice tubes rides and the local heroin addicts were already up on the beach looking for their next fix. I rode a 70’s 8’-6” rounded pin that my Uncle gave me. It worked great. We got about two hours in before the onshore wind showed up. We headed back to Hector’s for a carne asada and the heater on full blast.

When we got back we rested for a short stint then went for a walk with Laurie & Paula to collect sea glass. You see, Pleasure point has been blessed with tons of sand on the beach. Yes, no more rocky walk. It was super low tide and we ran Rell with all the other dogs till she dropped. Around three, I looked down towards the Hook to see some peelers, so I hot footed it back to the house, grabbed my Martinson and booked it. I caught a wave at 38th, then drifted down to the hook. It was crowded. Lots of testosterone brewing, so I caught one down to Privates. The crowd was light and getting lighter. It was 3-5 foot and beautiful. Towards sunset, there were maybe 4 of us left. This big set just shows up out of nowhere. Jim Beckett grabs it as I scramble to get over it. I am hoping there is one more and sure enough, there was a bigger one. This thing peeled like a long Rincon wall. It seemed to go on forever. As I made it through the inside section I saw Jim in the whitewater. If we had made that next section we could have continued down to Trees! That’s a long ride!

Well, that was a blessing, so I headed back out for one more before complete darkness set in. It was a long walk back from Privates to 34th Street, but it was beautiful.

Sunday was supposed to rain so I think everybody slept in. We jumped on 1st Peak with only six guys out! There were some 8-10 faces and the rest of the world was sleeping. We had an unreal 2 1/2 hour session, then the crowd started to fill in. By then I was noodled and time to go in.

We rested up then headed home to Cayukie see the sun setting on more closed out surf. What a weekend. Glad I can rest now and save energy for the next session!

Hope you scored.

But you wrote up a nice report...

Friday was the best day I've seen in quite a while at the Hook, if not the best ever. 1.5x on the drop peeling to overhead. Surfed from 11am to 3pm and it actually got better as the tide dropped. Not too many people and super clean and glassy. I caught a ton of waves.

Saturday morn, I dawned it at 1st Peak PP. Much bumpier and morning sick on the high tide, but there were some big drops with 12-15' peaks. Though they all mushed out after the drop. I got pounded a couple times by bigger outside sets, but the drops were worth it. Had my 8'6' hybrid when I should have the bigger gun.

The harbor is shaping up nicely and I was almost on it on Friday but didn't think a 9'6' Takayama was the right board
