I'm heading down to Morro Negrito this August for a week. After making my reservations with the infamous Continental Airlines I found out they're having an excess / oversize bag embargo this summer. So the surfboard is staying home and the bodyboard is gonna get all the glory. Hopefully I can borrow a longboard or something from the camp for a few sessions, though. By the way, has anyone ever had trouble taking a bodyboard during one of these embargos? They have that max size rule where length + width + height <= 62 inches, which a bodyboard doesn't satisfy...
Neal, A complete guess... ( without having been there yet and judging solely from pictures posted by other people ) that looks like the spot they call The Point.

Killer. They definately scored.
Definately 'The Point' *on* MN island. (GOD that break rocks!)
The 'big' day (thurs) before I left when we went when I had a 4 hour solo session there with just my friend Scoot while everyone else went to Silva... ....that's how good it looked for us for a brief monment in time.

Mark, keep in the back of your mind for future trips that there are a few of the old Solas crew that continue discussing going back to MN in a year or so to see what's on that bigger outer island. I know that Doc and Geo will go back with that one goal in mind.
It's hard not to think about what is possibly out there. So close, so far away. We'll need at minimum two of Steve's boats and supplies for over night.

Yes, it was the point. And Delta may not have the baggage embargo. You _can_ get a refund from Continental .
I did.

guys, it is but a 3 hour max boat trip. gps transponders et. al. not needed......we go out at 4 am, come back at 3pm...whats the big deal with choppers and shit? we take water and a few sandwiches, and we are good to go. that is - IF you can handle the surfgeo school of surf adventure....... 'being trolled is like wiping out on a big wave, everyone laughs at your expense'

That would be way over my budget. The closest place to get a helo would be on the mainland quite of few miles inland at the Naval Base.
The islands in question (Isla De Coiba and Isla Jicaron) are about 10-15 miles offshore from the camp at MN. They are in the direct path of the SW swells coming into MN and Silva Island. As you can see, MN and Silvia do not suffer from waves and these islands can only hold untold findings. In fact, there are quite a few other islands on the horizon that hold promise. (see nautical chart #21580)
So far, no one has been out there...
Steve's boats will do but it is a bit sketchy.
